This poster worked because Will’s hair was such a distinctive color and cut that everyone on his campus knew whose recital it was for, even if they didn’t know him. They also knew the location, because there was only one place it could have been: the music building. An element of cool was also necessary, because he is a cool guy who was playing cool, cutting-edge music that was pretty unexpected in the setting of his school. He told me that people were coming up to him afterward to tell him they came to his show because of this poster, even though they didn’t know him and had never even thought to go to a senior thesis recital before. They all loved the performance.
I did four of these videos for a Berklee organization called PULSE, to educate young kids about music.
Here I worked with a coder to build this website. I know enough coding to understand how to build sites like this, but my job here was just the visuals. I tried to maintain as much control of the text as possible, while staying within the confines of what our coder knew how to do. Please visit the website to see more: cassieterman.com.
